Kyle HagmannAlso, please read "In Loving Memory of Kyle Hagmann" Since this website's inception in May 1998, many comments have been received from visitors. The tragic ones are from families who have lost loved ones to GHB or a GHB analog containing GBL, BD, or furanone, etc. No single tragedy has prompted as many responses than that of Kyle Hagmann. We have decided to put all of the comments received for Kyle on one page. To leave your own comment, you may fill out the feedback form. |
Name: Coach Brad Rice I am Kyle's high school baseball coach. I will NEVER forget this young man. I have coached baseball on the high school level for 16 years. In that time I have had the privilege of working with many fine young people. None finer than Kyle Hagmann. He was a person of great potential and talent. He would have accomplished important and meaningful things in his life. Believe it. This young man was gifted and focused and special. I still struggle with the loss of this exceptional person. It upsets me terribly that Kyle researched this insidious drug on the internet (educating himself is so typical of Kyle) only to be misinformed. Kyle always made good and informed decisions. That this misunderstood drug could snatch away such a bright light is maddening! I guess I am still stunned. I probably always will be to an extent. Tony and Elise, you two did an incredible job developing and raising this excellent young man. You have my utmost respect! Sarah is yet another example of your profound skill at parenting. Kyle influenced so many people at this school, staff as well as students. I still talk about him to my students and ballplayers. Kyle will always live in my heart....
Name: Kyle Smith I pray that it be known to all the lethal power of this drug so that no one else has to feel the severe pain of a lost son, brother, and best friend. Date: 19 Nov 1999 Name: Sharon I have known Kyle's family for over 10 years, which gave me the opportunity to see Kyle & his sister Sarah grow from giggly little munchkins to beautiful, young adults. Kyle was a kind, well-respected, gifted athlete, and academic achiever. But most of all, he was a wonderful friend to my own three kids. My oldest daughter, Shannon, looked up to him as sort of a "big brother", being equally impressed with his presence around their high school campus, she as a Freshman & Kyle, the "Big" Senior h as she was when always greeted her at their front door with his quick-wit to make her laugh with his sister, Sarah. My younger daughter, Meghan, plays basketball & has shin-splint problems. Kyle, being the "Athletic-Trainer Extrordinaire", advised Meghan on several occasions as to what type of treatment would ease her discomfort. With basketball season opening this week, Meghan is deeply saddened knowing that "Her Personal Trainer" won't be in the gym this season. I have tried to assure her though that Kyle will still be watching over her. My son, Phil, was always extremely impressed with Kyle and placed him on the highest of all "pedestals" as there was, in Phil's eyes, nothing that Kyle couldn't accomplish. In fact, Kyle's Mom, Elise, and I will always remember when Phil was about 4 and Kyle was about 12 and Phil was so intrigued with how tall and "mature" Kyle was at that "older age"! Phil made the statement,"....I'll bet Kyle can walk on water if he tried.". Someday, when they meet again, maybe Kyle can impress Phil....once again. The tragic loss of our dear friend Kyle has not only deeply affected his
family and close friends, but it has also affected our entire (small) community because
Kyle was one of the few "Shining Star's" among our community's youth. How this
awful "GHB" could find its way into the hands of Kyle and other young people is
a very sad statement of the our society's acceptance of manufacturers of these types of
"environmental enhancers", having the ability to sell these drugs to the public
without proper testing or restrictions and relatively no warning of possible (and tragic)
side effects in the labeling and advertising of these so-called "healthy" drugs.
Recently, after speaking with Kyle's Mom, and learning of this website, the GHB Bill, and
of the endless hours she and many others are giving to educating the public of this
horrific drug, I also feel, that for the sake of Kyle's memory and for all of the young
people I come into contact with on a daily basis, it will be one of my personal priorities
to make sure that this website stays financially "afloat" and that the message
of this website gets out to everyone possible. We are all empowered by the Grace of God to
be able to send this message on.....we must not let another person lose their life to this
drug. Name: Kathy Proffitt I have know people that have been using this drug for years and the only side effect they have had is urinating themselves at night because they could not wake up to go to the restroom. Kyle, my boyfriend had only taken GHB a few times and never never woke up. I had a gut feeling that there was something wrong with this "safe sleep aide," I just wish I knew exactly what it was. The website Kyle showed me said nothing but good stuff about this drug. The one thing that sticks in my mind now is Kyle reading me "There are NO known DEATHS from GHB." I only hope that when people look up this deadly drug that this is the first site they come to. People seem to believe everything they read on the internet. Just because it is on the internet does not mean it is true. So please if any one you know is taking this deadly drug, please let them know that this drug does kill. Name: Tony and Elise Hagmann We appreciate the accurate information you are providing on your website regarding GHB. We only wish that Kyle had found this site instead of those promoting GHB. If he had, we know he would still be alive today. We learned that Kyle had never heard of GHB until only a few weeks prior to his death. Apparently a fellow classmate introduced him and other students to GHB as a safe supplement, which supposedly aids in muscle development and is used as a sleep aid, not as the potentially deadly drug that it is. We feel that it is our obligation as parents to expose GHB for what it is, something deadly. If Kyle must be the example, take the warning to heart. GHB and drugs similar to it must be avoided and the word must be spread so that this awful tragedy is not repeated. Kyle was a quality young man with a promising and bright future and if this tragedy happened to him, it could happen to anyone. Our loving memories of Kyle live on in our hearts every minute of every day. We miss him so much but know he is safe in Gods hands until we are all together again. Tony and Elise Hagmann
