My first exposure to GHB was right after my boyfriend and I broke up and I went out to a bar to get drunk. After I had several drinks I met two guys who were very nice and very attractive. They told me they had Liquid E in the car and asked if I wanted some. I had done regular ecstasy several times and liked it, plus I was depressed and wanted to escape, so I went to there car and drank a capful of the stuff. It was so salty and tasted so bad that I went back in the bar and immediately had another drink. Not long after drinking the GHB, my head started spinning, I couldn't focus my eyes and I felt "drunker" than I have ever felt. Then I became nauseas. One of the guys went with me to the bathroom while I vomited. I'm not totally sure what happened after that. I woke up the next morning in a farmhouse an hour and a half outside of town. I was in a king-sized bed between the two guys. They were both naked and I was wearing their clothes. I don't know what I did or what happened. I do remember waking up at one point to see one of the guys urinating on himself. I don't think I was raped, but I'm not sure. Stay away from this stuff! It makes you helpless!

I recently took GHB at an after-hours club while I was on E. Since I was on E I didn't feel anything from the GHB so I continued to drink from the water bottle all night so I'm unsure how much GHB I actually took. About 5 hours later when I started to come down all I wanted to do was sleep which I found strange because with ecstasy you usually stay awake for a long time. I was shaking and I couldn't breathe and I was so dizzy I couldn't even lift my head, I was also very cold. That day I slept for 22 hours waking up briefly in between. My room mate didn't know what had happened earlier that morning. It took me about 3 days to recover from what I had done that night and after hearing horror stories about this drug and experiencing some scary stuff myself I have decided to never do it again even though I was tempted to do it again, I sometimes crave the taste of the water laced with GHB but I'm glad my experience showed me how dangerous this drug can be.

GHB is deadly

I have been doing E for about six months I tried GHB for the second time in my life, I only did three swigs of it out of a water bottle cap. I then went back into Techno Bar in my home town about 15 mins later I passed out, was carried out of the club. The last thing I remember is the washroom I came to two nurses which stuff attached to places all over my body. They told me I was lucky that I did not go into a coma, because I was pretty [darn] close, and that I was barely breathing when I arrived at the hospital and that I could have died. In was lucky, From this I have stopped taking drugs when I go to raves or parties, I don't even touch E. This stuff is bad news, and it can destroy your life if ya let it.

My friends and I are beginning to suspect that a prankster with a sick sense of humor or a grudge against the goth bar we go to once a week is dosing the juices and random bottles at the bar. we have each experienced a heavy "drunk" night after consuming just one drink. my experience was last Saturday night, and a blacked out after having just one rum and pineapple juice. Pineapple's sweetness would mask GHB well. I also had sleep patterns the next day that were unusually heavy, and a pain in my lower side - my liver I believe. I am very aware now that predators are everywhere, and the drug is readily available, and it would be irresponsible for me to NOT take this strange probability seriously. For now, my friends and I will continue to go, watch others carefully, and drink only bottled beer. WOMEN BEWARE! If I was not out with a group of friends I could easily have been given a ride home by the wrong person! GO OUT IN GROUPS! Or don't drink at all. It is not enough to just watch your drink after you get it from a bartender. And tell others. I am a confirmed partier, but I will party on MY terms, not some sicko creep with nothing better to do. Just sign me Angela, or Nursing my Liver in LA

I was looking for info regarding GHB. My family has just put my sister in a rehab center for GHB abuse. I knew she was using it, but all of the info I had gotten off the internet 8 months ago was so pro use I could not believe it. I was so relieved to see your information because I also do not believe for one second that it can be "good" for you.

The way you described the side effects are just like I have seen my sister. The twitching, unconsciousness, the totally blank look on her face are so realistic to me. I was particularly interested in your comment about making sure the MD treating her knows about GHB and that it was a harder addiction to treat. I will have to inquire about that.

Thanks for helping to bring out the truth!

I hate it when my husband takes GHB. I can tell immediately by the way he looks and talks that he has taken it. His symptoms include: muscle twitching, heavy snoring, confusion and incontinence. I don't mind a little mood elevation but when you are out of control then that is going to far!!!

On Feb. 21,1999 I decided to take a cap full of GHB with my boyfriend. He took it about thirty minutes before I did and nothing happened so I decided it would be ok for me. I am five years younger than my boyfriend and I had had no food that day. So needless to say the effects were a little different on me. It took about five minutes to set in.

The room was spinning at first I thought it was pretty cool. I was laughing and joking with my boyfriend but from that point on I don't remember. This is what was said that happened. I was laying on top of him and all the sudden I started convulsing. I was grabbing him by the ears and trying to get him to kiss me, and then I said I had to go to the bathroom but I didn't quite make it. I peed all over my bed. Then he knew something was seriously wrong because usually 18 year olds can control their bladder. He freaked out and went and got my best friend/roommate to help. the took me onto the bathroom trying to run water on me to calm me down then I said I had to go to the bathroom again and so they sat me on the toilet and I started beating my head against the wall and pushed my best friend into the bath tub. After that they called 911 and then carried me down stairs. The ambulance got there in about thirty seconds, rushed me to the hospital.

Once I got there the doctors had them tickle me and do anything that would wake me up but nothing worked. They pumped my stomach hooked me up to an IV took blood everything you could imagine. After six hours in the ER I woke up thinking I was at home in my bed, but shortly I realized that I was at the hospital. I got really scared and started crying and breathing funny. Then doctors and nurses came and told me how close I was to dying. This experience has changed my outlook on life. The scariest thing about the whole thing is that I usually don't do drugs or drink or anything, so it only takes one time.

As a gay 24 year old who attends many of the circuit parties and goes to many clubs in Montreal, Toronto and New York, I have come into contact with G, Renewtrient, Blue Nitro, Revivrant etc... I have many friends who have done and continue to do GHB. I have to admit that I have tried Renewtrient twice. My friend bought it in a health food store in New York City. I was so excited about trying this "legal" substance as it was supposed to make me so high and horny! I had absolutely no idea that it had the same effects as "the real thing". The only thing that happened to me was that I became extremely agitated and very bitchy towards others. It also made me very groggy and a little depressed. I was lucky.

I now have 4 friends that have overdosed on the stuff. Three of the four were taken to the hospital. One of them went into a coma and was hospitalized for a few days. Of these awful experiences, the latest occurred on Saturday night, February 20, 1999 at a very popular New York club (Roxy). My friend decided to take some Renewtrient while other guys I know were popping E and sniffing K. This friend of mine is a good friend of the previous guy I described who went into a coma. You'd think that seeing his friend defecate and vomit all over himself and pass out for 3 days would make him reconsider ever using it. His answer as to why he did it: "He just took too much. You have to be careful and know your limit." I guess he didn't know his own limit as he mixed it with OJ and within ten minutes began to shake, sweat, lose control of his legs and lose total control of other bodily functions. The management and security at the club were extremely helpful in getting EMS on scene so that he could be taken to the hospital ASAP. They told me that this happens at least once every night. When they asked what he took, I told them that he had consumed some Renewtrient. They told the paramedics that it was GHB. I insisted it was the legal stuff because I had no idea that it was the same thing as GHB. Two of his friends accompanied him to the hospital (even though they had taken other drugs that night). My friend was a total mess for a few hours and was released early Sunday morning. He is lucky to be alive. I know that this latest experience is not the last time that I will see an OD occur in front of my very own eyes. All of these guys seem to know how important it is to take "the right amount" (in my opinion, none sounds reasonable) yet they were so high they couldn't control how much they took. That to me seems to be the biggest danger. I actually believe that all four of the guys I know that have had really bad experiences will probably try it again in the future. Unfortunately, I don't think they will ever stop using it until one of them dies.

This is a very BAD and ADDICTIVE DRUG. I have just witnessed a very bad situation.A relative took this drug and mixed it with cold meds and antidepressant, and is now in a very bad state. Spent 3 scary nights in ICU and is now in a psych. ward where they have no known antidote and no experience with this drug. Relative is in serious withdrawals and I would like to talk to anyone who thinks this is o.k. I am so sorry about your son and I hope that this epidemic can be stopped. IT is pushed to many 18-25 year old men at gyms, and health food stores. BEWARE of Blue Nitro, Revivrant, and GH Revitalizer at health food stores. Anyone out there who has any authority will work to see that no more people become hooked on this.

After dealing with this "GHB" craze, I see young healthy good looking guys turn into different people. After time this drug does change people's behavior and way of thinking. My husband overdosed recently and I was devastated. this was a factor in our divorce; the "GHB THING". We have a 6 year old daughter that even says that "Daddy has changed". What is so sad is that his new girlfriend overdosed together with him. They were escorted out of a South Miami beach club by Fire Rescue to South Shore Hospital. Now Tell me, does this sound like Romeo& Juliet? is this suicidal? This has affected my life and broke my love and bonding with the man that meant the most to me in my life. I still love you RC I wish somehow you could reverse the damage you did to yourself and our family. WE NEED YOU AND MISS YOU!

I am currently a master's level student in counseling and I work on the weekends at a very large dance and rave club here in town. I was introduced to the drug GHB tonight. I walked outside the door of the club and saw an innocent appearing kid on the side walk, anywhere from the ages of 18-20,writhing and convulsing with spurts of blood coming from his mouth. His body was out of control and his eyes back in his head. I immediately ran inside the club and called 911. Two guys stayed with him to hold his head from banging on the sidewalk. One of his friends appeared moments later. I told her that if she knew what he was on it would probably help the paramedics. A tear whelped up in her eyes and she turned to him, holding and coddling him as his muscles convulsed and spasmed. The EMS arrived and I saw them speaking to his friend and I heard the paramedic call to her partner to call in a GHB overdose.

Until this point I had never heard of GHB. After 20 minutes in the parking lot of the bar the EMS pulled out in Code 3 which means its a serious case. Within an hour, we heard the kid had slipped into coma. I asked a few fellow co-workers and no one knew of the drug. I then asked a customer and the customer replied "that's some awesome shi*, makes you really feel everything, I was on that last weekend." I asked him if he had seen the guy outside convulsing on the sidewalk and he replied yes. I told him that he was on some of that awesome shi* and now he was in a coma. The guy replied..."yeah, you have to be careful with it or it will get nasty like that," with no remorse in his voice. This event really impacted me in some way. I came home and started looking for what exactly this drug was. The only other reply I could get out of anyone at work was that it was a mix of heroin, crystal meth, cocaine, and LSD. I found this site and a few others and I have learned some about the drug. I hope this comment will somehow affect someone like this incident affected me. I feel like I saw a young spirit die in front of me tonight and I don't understand how so many feel it is so harmless and continue to use GHB.

I've read a lot of web pages on the subject of GHB. None were really that accurate. with no offense to those who wrote them. Some say that GHB is replacing Ecstasy as the club drug of choice. Some say that it's the new date rape drug. The people who write this are looking at it from an outsiders standpoint. The facts being that GHB used to be a prescribed drug until the FDA banned it. I have in my life used GHB. To me and my friends, it was the equivalent of drinking. I felt that I'd just had 5 beers. I had the dizzy drunk feeling in my body without losing control of my thoughts or whereabouts. It was a good feeling. For months, maybe three times a day, I would take a capful with friends for a happy moment. the effects only lasted an hour tops. One day, I took too much. Two capfuls in a half hour period, and the solution was stronger than normal. I went to the bathroom to vomit and woke up the next day on the bathroom floor. The funny thing about GHB is you tend to feel just fine after a "GHB-Hell"

But that incident is not what made me quit using GHB. My friend went to a club one nite and took a capful. To wash the bad taste down we drank water. We also kept the GHB in water bottles. He mistook one bottle for the other and drank half a bottle of the solution and ended up the hospital in a GHB coma. He doesn't remember much. After that none of us used it again. It made us realize how stupid we were. Should you OD on the stuff, you are hurting your friends who don't know what's wrong and they have to take care of you. You are hurting yourself because you may never wake up. You hurt your family because they don't understand how you could do that in the first place. Just don't use it. The solutions are varied and you never know what you are getting. Don't take that chance. It's not worth it.

To all of you "recreational" drug users out there BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!!!!! I have used drugs recreationally for approx 5 years now. I am 20. This is the scariest drug I have ever used because you never know how it will effect you when you take it, during your high, and afterwards. The first time I took it was Halloween Weekend. A friend and I were partying in the French Quarter and met up with more friends, one of them having a hotel room for the night. He had a cousin down from Seattle and suggested we all go to the hotel and "party" There were no objections so we went up to the room and the night started getting bad then. They chose coke as the drug of the night and neither me or my friend do it (been off it 3 years) so we asked if they had anything else to do. They said something like "Oh yeah, so and so has that "sleep stuff" I think it can !@#$ you up a little bit if you drink with it." So we both examined the bottle and were told one cap was like drinking 3 or 4 beers at once quickly. She took a cap and I took a cap. Let me say this first, the reason I took it was obviously to get "*#@!" up. The reassurance that it was a "health product" purchased legally at a reputable chain of nutrition stores made it a hell of a lot easier to consciously consume with out feeling like it could be lethal. The taste made me choke up and I had to put down my beer for fear of puking. In fact my whole night after that was full of PUKING MY GUTS OUT, HAVING STOMACH CRAMPS, HAVING TO SHI* EVERY 5 MINUTES, A POUNDING HEADACHE, DIZZY FEELINGS, DEHYDRATION FEVER, AND MANY MANY MORE.

So, needless to say-this party drug really ruined my partying for the night and consequently all the rest of the week. My friend wasn't as lucky as me probably because she kept drinking AND taking caps. She passed out and stopped breathing and all I could do is watch due to the fact that I was already very sick and everyone else was choked up so bad. She came to in several seconds and we called 911 and she spent the night in the ER's ICU Dept. Please know that this particular drug's cons so heavily outweigh the pro's you and your friends that do it are playing with your lives. Someone once told me you'd be safer playing Russian Roulette with5 bullets than taking G, GHB, Blue Nitro, Renewtrient or what ever it is containing this god awful chemical.

I have been slipped this drug twice that I can recall. The first time it was mixed with what appeared to be a rum and coke. I began to feel nauseated and drunk after only one drink and one beer. I was also very chilled. The second time I ingested the drug was at a frat party. I was drinking a concoction called "Jungle Juice" and quickly became drunk off a small amount of it. I soon noticed that only the girls were drinking this and all the guys conveniently had cans of beer in their hands. Thankfully, one of my friends was being very loud and obnoxious so we were asked to leave. I do not remember this exactly, one of my friends told me what had happened later.

Thankfully, I was not attacked on either occasion, but the possibility was there. I hope other young women read this and can learn something from it that I should have known all along, NEVER drink anything that has been pre-prepared for a party when there is something else - anything, and that includes soft drinks - available. Hopefully we can stop this from becoming the new "in" crime!

Last weekend my boyfriend and I went hiking with a friend of his from work. We were drinking beer and just enjoying the day. About an 18 pack or so later, his friend decides to do some "G". Takes a cap full, then another, and starts getting to a feel good point. He's smiling and yelling and just having fun.....when we got to the truck he pulls it out and starts taking more "G" but this time out of the bottle. (like water, or even like more beer). So 10 min. later we leave and my boyfriend and I get in his truck and the friend gets in his truck and takes off screeching tires and driving crazy. All of a sudden we are pulling out of the parking area and he flies back into it, so my boyfriend tells him we will follow him, so we get on the road (which is very curvy and steep) and he is all over the place. I told my boyfriend to pull next to him. Sure enough he was sleeping!!!! We honked the horn yelled and did what we could to get his attention, finally he slowed down. My boyfriend stopped and jump out of the truck then ran to his truck and turned it off, we tried everything to get him out of the truck, he was drooling like crazy and making weird noises like he was about to vomit! Finally we got him out and carried him to the passenger side, he had this unbelievable strength!! It was unreal!!

Well, when we got him in the truck we sat him backwards so his back was against the dash. He fought and fought while we were getting him in, so when we did we slammed the door. My boyfriend drives him in his truck and I lead in his. Apparently he screamed bloody murder the whole time but was in some type of coma (in my words) He never said a word just screamed. Once we got out to the 10 mile loop we stopped to turn him around. This sounds funny but it really isn't! My boyfriend walks around to move him and HIS HAND IS SLAMMED IN THE DOOR! He couldn't even tell him while we drove 10 miles. My boyfriend got it out and it was black and blue and had indentations. So we took him home to his girlfriend and carried him into bed. Two hours later he calls my boyfriend and asks "What happen to me?" "What happened to my hand?"

He had NO CLUE! All I think is he could have died. I don't know him very well, but he is a nice guy, and a good friend to my boyfriend. He could have lost his life! Over a fun day gone bad!
Is it worth it???? Well, the best part is we can laugh about the hand and it is a story to tell for a long time.......but, hopefully it is one to benefit from. I must say I would much rather have a broken hand then no life. I think he learned his lesson....And I hope you learn from it too.

Hi Again!! I entered my experience on GHB yesterday and last night I was with a friend who I offered some GHB to a couple weeks ago. Anyway, on a Friday night 2 weeks ago at a local bar I was with friends and I had done one shot of "G", a friend from school comes in and we start talking. I told her about the "G" and she wanted some. She took two shots (cap fulls). About 45 min. after she disappeared and I hadn't seen or heard from her until last night. She told me that she left the bar and was sitting on the curb in the parking lot, and saw a girl (whom she did not know) and asked her for a ride. The girl said she could take her to a restaurant up the block and that was as far as she could take her. So my friend does not remember anything. She says that she was sitting outside this restaurant by herself and and apparently going through some type of convulsions.

A bystander called the paramedics and the came. She couldn't remember her name, age, nothing, the only thing in her head was the number 660. That is the address to her house. She didn't know the name of the street though. The Paramedics wanted to take her to the hospital, but she refused. Finally after an hour or so she remember her phone number and they called her roommate, who came to get her. The roommate says that she was drooling heavily and breathing heavy but not consistent. Who knows what could have happened, worst of all she doesn't even know WHAT DID HAPPEN. These are images in her mind. Scary, and even more I offered it to her.

I drank Reviverant thinking it was different than GHB . When I drank it I thought it was diluted in water or juice so I had about four gulps of it .I drank it as if I were drinking a beer. I felt mild effects immediately and within 5 min. could barley feel my legs. I went to sit down when I vomited all over myself several times in a patio at a nightclub full of people. I remember hearing voices but not knowing who was around me. I was carried out of the club-but I don't remember that. I heard someone shouting in my ear "I'm a nurse and you are going to be ok" but I could not respond I could barely even open my eyes. An ambulance picked me up and took me to a hospital 5 min away.

I don't remember being in the ambulance or getting transported out of it. I was awoken by two doctors speaking loudly to me asking me if I knew who I was , where I was , or what happened to me. It took me a good 15-20 min to be able to answer those questions to myself. I had a catheter in my urethra, an IV and a tube down my nose because they were pumping what ever else was left out of my stomach. I was able to go home that night a few hours after the whole episode.Luckily I was with family the whole time and they knew my whereabouts the whole time this was going on.My friend happened to have a change of clothes she lent me otherwise I would have had to put my clothes on which was drenched in my own vomit.

I will not forget this horrible experience for as long as I live. I can only be thankful for not having been alone and not having died at 24. You couldn't pay me enough to drink that [expletive] again.

I'm sorry most people who do ghb only realize how evil it is until something like this happens to them.....

I recently was introduced to this drug. I will admit that three to four times I did try this. I also must say that I felt good. During the time I tried this I was drinking but never got sick. I probably only did two cap fulls each time but always mixing with alcohol. After reading these pages on the drug I will never touch it again, and I do honestly believe it needs to be brought out more. Everyone young and old knows about Marijuana, Cocaine, Speed, etc....but never once have I and my friends heard of this drug till about a month ago. I live in Las Vegas and I know that from some people I have met, GHB is in high demand, and I think that it needs to go more public......Thank you for your time.

Here is my story, I hope it will make you more aware. I was at a dance club one night with a few girl friends, having a blast. My friends and I have made a pact that designates one person as the "Mommy of the Evening". This persons responsibility is to stay sober and watch over all of us all night (that includes no making out with anyone or leaving the club with strangers). That night, we decided to go to a local club that was supposed to be the hottest spot in town. Six girls in all, four of us had fake ID's (that made us 21), the other two were 18 (old enough to get into the "dance floor" portion of the club). After 2 hours on the dance floor, we decided to hit the bar before the club closed. So I went to the bar with the other three girls. We started eyeing all the guys, and drinking margaritas. Right away, I was entranced by this very good looking guy. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him.And Finally, (Let's call him David*) David* came over to where we were sitting, and asked if he could buy me a drink. He seemed very nice, a real sweetheart. He was dressed nice, and like I said, he was really good looking! I was excited that he was talking to me...and again, he asked if he could buy me a drink. I said no, but he was so persistent, I eventually gave in, I told him that I'd have another margarita. When he called the bartender over, he introduced the bartender as his buddy Mark*. Mark* mixed me the drink, I didn't pay much attention though. Only 2 drinks into the evening, I was feeling really dizzy and buzzed, my legs and feet felt warm and tingly when I tried to stand up, so David* offered to escort me outside for some fresh air. I went with him. David* convinced them that I was sober, so my friends let me go.

Walking through the club is the last thing that I remember, but I will continue with my story as it has been "remembered" by me during hypno-therapy. I began to feel really tired and weighed down by the time we got outside, and at that time, David* nearly dragged me to his car and poured me inside. He then drove me back to his apartment and carried me up the stairs. The whole time, I was feeling really sick and vomiting all over him. When I stopped vomiting, David* then took me into the bathroom and propped me up onto the toilet, he forced me to give him oral sex and let him perform anal sex on me. He then tied me to the railing inside his apartment and forced me to do all of that over again. When David* was through with me, another person arrived, I believe this person to be Mark* the bartender. Mark* and David* then began to rape me repeatedly. When I woke up the next morning, I was laying in the fetal position on the floor of the bathroom. I had no recollection of the night before. I got up and put my clothes back on (at that time, I noticed that no one was in the apartment) on my way out the door I saw a note on the kitchen counter. It read "To the bit* on the floor in the bathroom, Thank you for the worst f* of my life, you're like s**** a corpse. Do not remember where I live, or I will kill you. Sincerely Yours, Dave*" I went to the police that morning and reported the rape, I was tested for drugs and also for STD's. David* not only slipped me a micky (which I later came to find out was GHB) but he also left me with Chlaymidia. This cloud did have a silver lining though, David* and his good buddy Mark* were arrested and are now awaiting court dates. (It is believed that they have been working together raping women for nearly 9 months). It turns out that I was given only 1 teaspoon of GHB, and I passed out within 12 minutes. It is only through 6 months of hypno-therapy that I have been able to conclude this story.

Bottom Line: I shared this story in order to raise awareness and make you realize that GHB is a very dangerous, harmful, and hazardous drug that should never ever be experimented with. Also, I would like to warn people of the dangers of Date Rape. Pour your own drinks, never drink from drinks that are bought for you, and never leave your drink unattended at parties, get-togethers, or clubs/bars. Thank you for this web page. And allowing me to share my story. I would like to also express the remorse I feel towards you for the loss of your son

I thought GHB was used only as a date rape drug, I had no idea that it was also used for recreation. I am going to do a feature on GHB for my high school news paper to [hopefully] raise awareness. Thanks for all of the information, I have really learned a lot! --Cathy Goddard Roy, UT

I was given a bottle of renewtrient from one of my coworkers. I follow an exercise program and a well balanced diet and take vitamins. I was excited to take this stuff because I was told it would stimulate the body's growth hormone production. I was under the impression that it was safe. I was a bit skeptical after reading that it would put you into a deep sleep for 3 to 5 hours so I decided to browse the internet when I stumbled on to your site. After reading your web page I have decided against taking Renewtrient. Thank you for making me aware of the dangers involved. Not FDA approved, promising increased energy, athletic performance, increased libido all sound too good to be true. And when you talk about death, well that was enough for me. Thank you again for alerting me to the truths about this drug. Please e-mail me with any further findings about this products.

I learned about GHB and more specifically products such as Blue Nitro from my brother who is a emergency medicine doctor and toxicologist in Southern California. He related his opinions to me about GHB from experiences (all negative)in the ER. Being the type of person that I am (a doubting Thomas) I had to find out for myself whether all of the advertised "wonder" effects of this drug are true. I obtained some "Blue Nitro" and experimented with the stuff for a weekend. I can honestly say that this is some really bad and dangerous stuff. I failed to experience any of the advertised effects which advocates of GHB say make it similar to ecstasy (could not be further from the truth). In fact, I could really find no redeeming effects produced by Blue Nitro. What seems to make this stuff so incredibly dangerous, in my opinion, is the fact that it has such an extremely steep dose/response curve meaning that you must not exceed the recommended dosage. Also if you mix it with alcohol and other drugs you can cause an exponential effect upon your body which is how people die using GHB, which is well documented.

As for the claims that GHB/Blue Nitro(et al) are not addictive, based upon my experience of trying the drug for only one weekend I could tell without question that it is addictive. As a former(and recovering) cocaine addict, I know what it means to be addicted to a substance and GHB is definitely addictive. I forced myself to return the remainder of what I had purchased so as to spare myself the trip down addiction lane, again, and as told by others who have posted experiences on this site. If you are curious about this stuff please take my advice based upon first-hand experience and DO NOT TRY IT!!

I thank you for this web page. I was asked almost two years ago by my husband's friends to find information about GHB. I wanted so much to find some information that I could frighten them with...something to discourage them. I didn't find it. Every web page I found was pro-GHB and painted the drug with a rosy glow. How do you explain the dangers of a drug that you know nothing of and can only find nice things written about? I could only say that I believed GHB was something they should avoid. A short time after that, these people purchased a kit over the internet to manufacture GHB. At the time, my husband and I lived in South Florida. I was not happy with their choice, but..."Their life; their problem."

It became my problem when my husband and I moved back to Central Florida 10 months ago. One night, against his wishes, GHB was slipped into my husband's drink. He's been on it since. He has experienced dizziness, headaches, hyperthermia, bradycardia, decreased respiration, tremors, and a deep unconsciousness responsive only to very painful stimulus. We have fought and argued over it. I have cried and screamed. All the while, he stands by his arguments that even I couldn't find anything really bad about GHB. "Nobody has ever died from it. Besides, it's better than me getting drunk all the time, isn't it?" No, it's not. My deepest sympathies for your loss. So far we have been lucky...I have been lucky. My husband is still alive. You can be sure that he will be viewing this web page....as soon as he wakes up from his "O-G" (GHB overdose). Again, thank you.

I've tried GHB about two times and didn't see it as a drug and was quite happy that I didn't have to drink to get that good buzz without the hangover. But I have since turned against this drug and think it is the worst thing out there. By boyfriend has been addicted for several of months, and it has been breaking our relationship apart. He cannot go a day without taking it and has G'd out several times. When he does G out he falls into a deep state of coma, in which he will sleep for several of hours and wake up not knowing what has happened. He takes G everyday and if he does not have it, he goes through severe withdrawal. This includes an increase in his temper(GHB is a steroid) he punches my car, his walls and everything around him will make him angry. It turns him into a person that he never was. When he is on G, he is so carefree, he doesn't give a [hoot] about anybody or anything. He will hurt peoples feeling, including mine, and not care about what he is saying. WHOEVER IS THINKING ABOUT TRYING GHB, PLEASE DON'T. It is a dangerous drug and it is not worth it to [mess] up your life and the ones around you.

As a law enforcement officer in a busy suburban town of Chicago, I have seen the effects of Liquid G as most of you have too. This substance is one that should be illegal anywhere to possess or ingest. In my town, we get calls 2-5 times per week for Liquid G overdoses, and might I add that most of these users are "just experimenting" and go into complete seizure. I hope this drug gets the attention it needs, so more people can see the harmful and deadly effects of this drug.

I am happy to see this site, and am sorry to hear about your son.

I have used GHB before and I have had some really bad experiences with it. I have seen some of my friends actually die by using it (they were brought back to life of course). GHB is very dangerous. I took too much a few times but the last time I took it was truly the last time. I had severe vomiting, couldn't focus on anything & couldn't move. I thought I was going to die if I fell asleep so I would fight it.
If someone decides to take GHB they need to, first, be around people who know about it. If anyone you know takes too much and stops breathing, DON'T hesitate, call 9-1-1 right away. THEY'RE LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS! If they pass out ("G"out or "scoop" out) just let them sleep it off. Once a person is passed out it's almost impossible to wake them up because they are in such a deep sleep. If you get worried try the sternum rub it usually brings them out of it for a few moments. Their breastbone may be sore for the next few days or so but at least they can thank you for possibly saving their life.

Remember GHB is not only dangerous but it is also illegal now, as of 11-01-98. So just like any illegal substance, USE CAUTION AND DON'T BE STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi - I'm a college student, and I've had one bad experience with GHB and haven't gone near it since. I look upon this website from time to time, and this time I was surprised to see Renewtrient and Revivarant listed as GHB lookalikes. I know many people that are out of college that drink these as alternatives to alcohol regularly as well as sell it. I have never had a bad experience with either of these, but I have taken care of someone who took took much of one of these and was extremely sick. The person was conscious, but unable to communicate and was vomiting etc. I basically wanted to say that it is becoming more popular in the city in which I live, and I think it's dangerous effects of these need to become more well known.

My name is Randy. I have been an ER nurse for 11 yrs. I have pretty much seen it all including GHB. Recently in the community in which I work, Metairie Lousiana, I have seen growing number of GHB overdoses. The last was this weekend when I took care of a kid who took an unknown dose of "Blue Nitro." It was an unpleasant site to say the least. He was unconscious except for when we went to lavage (pump out his stomach) him. He became so agitated that it took 7 or 8 people to hold him down during this procedure. Afterwards he was unconscious again. His heart rate was 170 per minute with the high normal being 100. He was admitted to the ICU and I do not know how he did after that. I have seen several of these cases recently and think this drug should be made illegal as it has the potential to cause great harm, even death. I have a fifteen year old daughter and hate to think that she may have exposure to this dangerous substance.

Just a short note to thank you for all the info on GHB. Part of my job includes informing and updating schools and community members on drugs and drug trends. Unfortunately, GHB is being abused here more and more. My interest in it was sparked by two recent deaths in the area which were caused by GHB. Your information will be passed onto many school aged kids as well as their parents in the hope that it will prevent them from doing the drug.

I was introduced to GHB about 6 months ago. The first few times I did it, I really didn't feel any effect. The dosage of ghb is very critical, a couple drops less than your "level" and you don't feel the effect as you should, couple drops over your level and you can get the spins, vomit, and pass out etc.. As I found my "level" in a few short days, I began to consume it mainly at night before bed. I have a sleeping disorder, ghb is wonderful for inducing good sound sleep. It also lifted my general mood and outlook on life. However, I began to take it more and more over the next few weeks. Although I didn't think anything of it, until I ran out of my supply one day. I then had a dreaded experience.

It was then that I realized that I am addicted to the substance. I know this contradicts almost every site on the net, but I can attest to you that I am 100% addicted. If I do not consume a normal dose every 3 hours or so, I begin to start have a terrible anxiety attack. My body feels real "heavy", and my palms and feet start to sweat. I am writing this in hopes that somebody out there can tell me where to go to get some help kicking this. I am very strong willed, I have abused alcohol, nicotine, and hydrocodone in the past. When I had had enough of those substances, I willed myself to slowly cut down on the dosages and kick the habit. But with ghb, if I try to cut down the dosage, I still get the terrible withdrawal symptoms. Checking into a clinic for a 2 weeks as I read in a previous post wouldn't be a viable option for me. Can a doctor prescribe medication to lesson the withdrawal symptoms? If worse comes to worse a clinic will be the answer, I just hope there is a better way.

Thanks, and I hope this letter answers some of your questions from a heavy user. Feel free to email me for a more info.

Nate

My experience with GHB has not been good, to say the least. I am a bouncer at a popular club in the city of Toronto, Canada. 1 out of every 20 people take the drug, that attend our club on a Sunday night. Furthermore, I'd say 5 out of the 20, 'G Out' from an over dose without fail. I'd sooner see a person stoned from marijuana then have them overdose on GHB. It is quite scary to drag a person out of a bar and not know for sure if they are alive or not! I have heard that the drug has effects on your nervous system if an overdose occurs. This does not surprise me, as many of the GHB users seem very stiff and rigid when holding them. Surprisingly, it seems to be a very popular drug, while the effects hardly seem worth the trouble.

I am a victim of this drug. just last week someone gave me it while in a local bar. I didn't think nothing of it because it was my cousins boyfriend and felt I could trust him. I was also drinking at the time. (I thought what he gave me was liquor) after just a few minutes I felt numb and very confused. I confronted my cousin and she told me what it was. after that I went into the bathroom for some water. the ghb was very salty tasting and I felt very dehydrated. while waiting in line a girl passed out on the floor and I overheard her friend say that she had just drank something in a cap and it was salty. I immediately reacted to help her. she was going in and out of consciousness and vomiting. I kept her awake until paramedics arrived. to top it all off she was only 19. this happened on fri and today is only sun. from what I here ghb is not illegal in michigan but is in many other states.

why can't it be illegal here? I want so much for these people to suffer for what they are doing to kids. tomorrow I hopefully will here from the police, I did file a report fri night. in the meantime, my cousins mother feels this drug is ok and that I was in the wrong. as of friday night our family has separated because of this. I wish so badly that they would open their eyes and see how dangerous this really is.

I recently tried GHB with some friends who touted the drug as being "non addictive" and "like alcohol but without the side effects" and after experiencing it and reading this web page I will forever more never try this drug . Oh sure it was cool to be on but the downer side to it is depressing. Some advice to future potential users of this drug are "don't take it, stay the f*** away from it" while it may be "cool" the side affects and effects of this drug are not to be misinterpreted. this is a highly destructive drug and can only lead to prolonged drug use.

I am so sorry about the death of your son. I am glad to see a website on GHB which tells the truth. I am hearing stories about a new drug called GBL, which I have been told is one of the base ingredients for GHB (gamma butyrolactone.) I train law enforcement and rape crisis advocates statewide on issues related to substance abuse and sexual assault. Has anyone else heard of this GHB type drug? I have been told it is marketed as a health food product under various names. If anyone has any information, can you write in?

Also, in my travels across our state, I have talked with hundreds of people who said they were sexually assaulted while under the influence, either voluntarily or involuntarily, of GHB, Rohypnol, or in some cases were not sure what they were given. Not only are women at risk for being victimized, but also several men have told me they were sexually assaulted. Please reconsider if you use GHB or any other substance which impairs you. It makes you vulnerable to being hurt or to hurting others.
